You want an update? Of course he did not show for any court dates. Judgement for $3175 to me(plaintiff). 45 days to comply(not). Affidavit submitted for non compliance. 6/4/25 court ruling for Lester to show for court on 7/7/25 at 11:15 to answer to judge why no shows and contempt of court. Should be fun to watch.

Thanks for the update.

Makes you wonder why people like Mr BBI think highly of Lester. I could tell Lester is a hack job after seeing him claiming to get 200watts out of a Stryker 497HPC after replacing few capacitors and a filter. No amount of "tuning" and capacitor changing is going to get results like that.

I'm shocked this hobby doesn't have any youtube channels dedicated to exposing hackjob radio shops or pointing worthlesss mods shops try to get people to do.

After viewing many of Less' videos, on youtube, that show outrageous PEP watts from his radio peak mods, it's obvious to tell that he has tweaked his Bird meter "add-on PEP-Multiplier Board" to show what he wants .... not what is true.

The "add-on PEP-Multiplier board" has to be adjusted for the "proper setting" for PEP, OR "whatever you want" as stated on the instructions. These settings are done without a SLUG in the Bird 43 meter. The "add-on PEP-Multiplier board" has two switches; a switch for PEP (on or off), and three-way-switch with center being Normal and UP being X2 or Down being X5 (the multiplier factors). There is a small "set-up Push Button" and five trimmer pots on the add-on-board, with all switch positions having a trim pot for setting up the proper outputs. A video with set up instructions can be found on youtube.

Once you have used it and set it up properly, it's easy to see that others have tweaked for the eye candy affect ............ to show more than what is real. Many argue that PEP is just "fake watts", but the FCC only goes by the PEP wattage reading for legal limit output.

Watch BBI's latest video with the (4 each) "811a vs 572b" tubes.

He has three Bird meters set up, on your left is SWR Reflect, the one in the middle is 1000w Average, and the one to your right is 1000w PEP.
His first test is with the 811a tubes, take note of the (low) 400w Average reading compared to the 700w (high) PEP readings for the 811a tubes. With the 572b tubes the Average wattage was 425w and the PEP wattage was 700w almost the same as the 811a tubes, but that the 572b tube would last longer. He goes on to state this amp is a 700w to 800w amplifier all day and sold as that. (but it only does to 400w Average.)

Whether you are, plan to become an Amateur Radio Operator, or not .................
What will your Average reading watt meter read?..... Not having a PEP meter...... which would you rather see and which do you believe? ...... Would you try to push the Average power to get the advertised (PEP) wattage out of it? ...... Or be happy with the PEP reading?

My 2¢..........
Like him or hate him .... he will be remembered.
Lester had a good run, was in it for a very long time, and did a lot of good to the hobby at one time with many good mods .......... but his old age has caught up to him, he knows it's just a matter of time ...... then it will all go away.

So yes there is an adjustment on the 125 peak kits that allows you to adjust the needle movement as far as "hang time" and speed at which the needle swings back to zero. Adjusting to show more watts will throw the kit out of calibration and be useless. Do I trust Less not to do that, absolutely not. I wouldn't trust that pos as far as i can kick him. With that said i have a Watts peak kit 43 inline with my bird 4412 factory peak reader and i have to say the watts peak kit is right on the money as calibrated by Matt before he ships and i dont touch the needle sensitivity settings like less and bbi have.

I don't know what is up with Lester, but if you have purchased anything from him and have not received it, you may want to look at your recourse with your payment option. He has not posted a video in almost 5 weeks and has taken down his pages. Maybe trying to go silent with the sheriffs office looking for him. Just saying.

I have never been a fan of swing kits or NPC mods on 148\grants anyway
I purchased a new RCI-2995DXHP and had it converted to operate on 11 meters. A swing-kit was installed and the clarifier was unlocked. I was not aware that a swing kit was installed but I was informed prior to placing the order that the clarifier was unlocked. I was informed by the shop that it was necessary to unlock the clarifier. When I received the radio, I received several reports of overmodulation and sideband was way-off frequency. I shipped the radio to a different CB repair shop to remove the swing-kit, restore the clarifier to original specifications and set the carrier at 2 - 8 watts. The radio transmits and receives perfectly with no modulation, drifting and off-frequency issues. I am a "happy camper"!

Any update?

He asked for a extension and it was granted after he would not answer the door again. Not sure what that is all about. New court date is Aug 12. Delay tactic.
OK. Here we go again. Ole Lester has retained a Lawyer and is playing the pity party game. He is a disabled navy veteran and needs more time. Can't get around because of his disabilities. I wonder if he took the time to realize that I am a disabled veteran also and made 2 trips to Jacksonville, FL from Huntsville, AL where he did not show up for any of his court dates. Got to wonder about this old cat.

OK. I have an update but I am holding back on any negative comments. Met Lester, kind of at our hearing on Monday and the Judge was non to happy with him or his lawyer. Will wait a few weeks to explain.

Was there a judgement?

On another note, I recently had to interact with him, when a customer's radio ended up here, with a LesComm channel kit in it. It was in a baggie inside the radio. After much testing and troubleshooting, I determined, that he screwed up the programming of the microcontroller. Even if he hadn't, the execution of this channel kit was pathetic. A complete waste of time and money.

Numerous back and forth emails, him sending useless links to his website, not accepting responsibility for a mistake, pointing to installation. Finally, he wanted me to send the board back for a CPU. Not offering the chip in the mail. I told him, not my radio, no can do. I told the customer how it works and how it doesn't, and how I would have done it without the LesComm mess.

That dude is a legend in his own mind.
