For a ford van and I have GPS tracker. was looking for something with SSB and AM of course. Maby 50 watts or so. Optima or maby a Galaxy, Stryker. The Optima looks easy to use and the cooling fan is a plus. I have been mounting the radio with the controls facing up on the center console down low. makes it easy to see and hear the speaker faces out towards me..The optima has been around for a while now. would this be a good choice.and the price not bad, from fleebay.

50 watts - optima or Lincoln 2 or Antone 6666

I am looking for about the same and am looking at either the rci 2950 or the president lincoln 2. I am just trying to figure out which would be better for mobile use, mostly in a semi. The lincoln tunes up to about 50 watts on side band. The rci 2950 is about 40 watts, so not much difference. I am trying to figure out which is more mobile friendly.

the Ebay mk3 from cold front sale will not have a warranty with it.
the radios do not the the tamper proof seals..
perhaps because they come with the frequency jumpers already set to include 11 meters.

who knows, Just an FYI

I would read the optima manual before deciding it's easy to use. seemed like a lot of button pushing to me. I went with the 2950 and have been happy with it. 2 year warranty too, twice as long as the optima.

o_Obesides, we all know the bigger the radio, the louder it is.

The optima is easy as heck to use and is a good radio. I don't know about getting one from eBay. I would spring for the few extra dollars and get it from Yeticom. This way you have warranty and the new mic that only they carry for it stock, other than the phantom mic that is. Only other radio I would consider is the 955hp currently. JMHO.

I wouldn't recommend the RCI 2950. It's a real fine radio, but I didn't care for it being mobile and I'm looking to sell mine. I'm a truck driver as well and what I didn't care for it mainly was the LCD display in the daytime, even on the brightest setting is too dim and if the sunlight is bright in your cab, the display is nearly impossible to see.

If your truck has an overhead console for the radio ( and if it will fit there since a lot of those were measured for a smaller radio like a Cobra29), Then you should be OK.

On a pickier note about the radio design, I hate the placement of the VFO knob, Your hand blocks the display when using it. I would have put the VFO knob on the right side of the radio so you can see the display when changing frequencies.

Thanks for your input. I am leaning towards the Lincoln 2 due to its compacts size and the good reviews. It would be easy to use in my pickup as well. I have a Uniden 980 that I really like so the Lincoln should be an even better radio for me.

I now have another radio for the Truck. Had one in the box that I forgot I had. I was going to buy one for the garauge bench. Was looking at DX-94 hp or the Stryker 955. Your thoughts thank you.
