removing these smt components can be fiddly , would just clipping the legs do the same [carefully] ?

I have a soldering station with a smallish tip, that and tweezers work great in my books.

am just a bit ham fisted ..new radio ..eye sight not good , will have a look tomorrow and gauge my chances of not messing this nice new rado up ..thanks for your help sir ..

Yup that and a jewelers loupe. Just don't burn your nose with the soldering iron while you are using the loupe to desolder it. LOL

Glad to know I am not the only one using the lighted magnifying glass. And they do work fine
