On Field Day ONLY you would be a A station but not during any other time that I am aware of. You must have Three or more operators then. I know of no other times that a Suffix is assigned for battery powered stations.

For general Amateur usage, You can self assign ANY suffix designation that you want to use.

If, you want to ID as "KD2GOE/setup in a park running off battery power", that is perfectly legal.

For FD, you don't HAVE to have 3 (or more) operators, you can operate as KD2GOE 1B NY
(your call) (Class B - Battery One or two person) New York

"most" contestors ,(unless the contest actually states otherwise). will frown on things like " /QRP" added to the exchange.

Read the rules for the contest you are interested in and give only the required exchange.

usually something like this: KD2GOE 59 NY

Some of the SOTA type Activations (not a contest) do want the "/QRP" designator.

At most for SOTA I may throw a /P for portable behind my CS, or if operating outside my licence area W7 etc.

I'm not a contester but IIRC the "modifier" is not part of the callsign but rather part of the exchange. The alphanumerc sequence signifies power output, type of back up power (battery/generator/solar etc) in addition to number of signals on the bands from the same station at the same time ie multi operator single station or multi operator/multi station etc.

Last years Field Day rules including station classes.
