need help with transistor

The best replacement for a part long-since discontinued depends in part on the circuit where it's found.

The 1306 was used as the driver transistor in sideband CB radios. And in AM-only models, it was used as the final stage. Hasn't been made for decades.

The 2SC2166 is what the radio factories switched over to when the 1306 was no longer made. This is the best choice as a sideband driver transistor.

An AM-only CB may also use the 2SC2078. Those are still showing up in new AM-only radios made recently.

And there are other substitute numbers that are valid, but all of those are also discontinued.

  • @ Hambones amps:
Does anyone know if you can replace the 2290 in a galaxy dx 93t twin turbine with a 2sc2879 red dot? If so, what would have to be tuned?
  • @ ShadowDelaware:
Hambones the entire amp section would have to be retuned, and the rf transformers re wrapped.
