New Tech

Passed my tech exam the other day and am waiting for my call sign. I would have sat for the General as well, but I was in somewhat of a rush that evening (I had a free half hour and decided to sit for the tech exam).

Found this forum and started researching HTs.
My main interest is in back country communication and SAR work.
I also enjoy electronics as a hobby and it looks like amateur radio will fuel a lot of projects!

I'm thinking of going with a unit that has APRS capabilities since that would be useful in the back country and relates to one less device to carry.

Looking forward to getting on the air soon

Robb, no problem on the temporary ban. I would have used my call sign, but I don't have it yet. I use magconpres everywhere else on the net since it is fairly unique, even though the company is long gone and I now work for a large shoe company in Beaverton, OR.
