That's a good radio, especially if you want to use SSB mode for DX. I probably would disagree a little with AM power on whether or not you need a driver for that amp, especially with that radio. If you're using SSB, that radio will do around 50 watts with some moderate modifications. While that amount of drive won't give you the biggest numbers you can possibly see out of 4 2879's, it will achieve very good numbers, and it won't drive the transistors to the point of saturation. That's especially important for SSB. Also, keep in mind that SSB is a more efficient mode, so DX communication is quite a bit easier with less power. If you want to do a lot of AM mode DX, you'll probably need more power to be heard frequently.
