I had an old black face President Jackson given to me. The radio powers up and receives fine, but appears to have no transmit audio. This radio has been tinkered with. A previous owner has opened it up and added a knob on the back of the radio to adjust output power. On AM and FM modes I do see decent output power on my watt meter, but absolutely no transmit audio is going out. I have ruled out the microphone by trying a known good mic with the same results. Any ideas on what to look for?

Well I guess I don't know for sure. The factory mic was the first one I tried, then I tried the mic from my Anytone 6666 on it with the same results.
So are you saying the factory mic could be bad, and the Anytone just plain won't work with it?
If you see the word "electret" on the back of the mike, this means it won't work with the Jackson until someone modifies the radio.

So the mic ended up being the culprit. Apparently the second mic I used wasn't a match for the radio either. Have an Astatic on it now and everything is working good..
