In the day and age of $500 export radios, my properly tuned Cobra 25, and Davemade have hurt alot of feelings.....

You can pick up a new Cobra 25 for around $120 and a new Davemade M200 3 pill for $260.......that $380 investment would blow that $500+ radio out of the water.
Exports give people a bunch of extra channels they will never use.........a roger beep that most people don't use.......an echo that when set right sounds OK, if not  .
I have never seen "High Powered" radios do what they were advertised to do as far as watts.
They are just complex money pits.

There is ALOT of truth to this post !
ALSO, that IS A KILLER combo --Davemade & cobra 25 !
S-M-O-K-I-N=G !!!!

I think alot of super bowlers use that radio for its Extreme audio.

The last few keydowns I went to, no one was running an export radio.
Export radios will not drive an amp setup as good as a properly tuned single final cobra.......don't ask me why or how but it is just a fact of life.

I'll tell you why. Those radios use transformer modulation, and their transformers are stout enough to handle very high audio levels and currents without saturating. This allows the 29 (and 25) to be tailored nicely for VERY high audio. With proper modification, they can be set for a fairly low key and decent PEP without adding noticable audio distortion. RF distortion will be increased, of course, in the form of higher IMD, etc.

...There are NO CHEERLEADERS & PAID testimonies here . These guys shoot straight . Here you can give your opinion & NOT get booted off the forum. Freedom of speech. I hope it stays that way.

Thats what I like about this forum, too. You can say what you want (within reason, of course) and you won't get booted. There will naturally be disagreements, but for the most part, the forum seems to be civil. Sure, there are times when I would LOVE to grab Switchkit through the screen and slap him, and his posts often make me imagine a 700-pound man trying to run, but I respect his right to express his opinion. As posts go, his are generally always polite and civil, even if reading them DOES make me feel like the squirrel in Ice Age

You see my aviator Dave ? That's me . 5'11 225LB's ........Let's get it on dude ! :p Surely IM kidding (but not about the aviator) but nice to know that the bullet hits the bone every once in a while around here with you concerning my feelings on any subject . I will agree with your squirrel in Ice age remark all the same , but I think I get my point across. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. :)

Incoming Region Produces X3 Solar Flare
    May 15, 2024 @ 14:55 UTC
Another major solar flare, but this time from an active region just beginning to turn into view off the east limb. It is possible that the group responsible is old AR 3654 from the previous rotation. The latest flare, an X2.99 event just peaked at 14:38 UTC (May 15). Stay tuned
