Well, starting on this Japanese version of the Galaxy DX -88HL. It's called Osaka by Japan and looks identical to the 88HL.

Evaluation:
1. All the caps look dried up with goo at the bottoms or seeping out the tops badly.

2. All controls and switches scratchy, needs cleaner.

3. Meter stuck.

4. All limiters have been removed, but why? Good grief, lol...

5. Driver bias cranked wide open.

6. First final bias turned all the way down.

7. Last final bias cranked wide open.

8. AM power VR cranked wide open (was keying 18w).

9. Needs alignment badly.

After I get the above straightened out, I will give an update.

I've already replaced all the limiters and rest the bias, checked the vco voltage and buffer along with oscillators.

Results before recap:
Receive noisy, too much hash.
Transmit and receive sensitivity is low.
Transmit swing is around 43w PEP, 20w peak at 14w average. Dried up AMC cap and audio caps will limit this output. Transmit audio is crackly, signs the audio caps and AMC caps are dried up.

Gonna recap, realign and then get back with you all. As you can see in the topside pic I have already started recapping the audio section. Black nichicon caps.

This time I will try to remember to upload some pics of the spectrum analyzer result and oscope result.

Cool and thanks, stay at it don't give up! There is also another version of Osaka, with a 5 digit digits reading for frequency you're on. Those are much more rare!

Hmm. EPT360014B board from RCI Malaysia. Looks like mid-to-late 90s production. The wiring harness blocks the date code on the PLL chip. Doesn't have a 6-Amp protection diode soldered across the power socket.

Can't say I remember seeing that name on the front. They'll print whatever name on the front your manufacturing contract specifies.

Sure looks a lot like a galaxy 77hml without echo or a superstar 3900.
