At least I can give the go ahead on the NPC/RC if I don't like the results. He did say if I don't like what he has done that he would do the NPC/RC at no extra charge.

If the tech don’t understand the RWOB he don’t understand Finals in SSB mode. I did NPC on my Lincoln, direct inject, ran a Mauldulator for grins and giggles. The thing I did not like with these newer Surface Mount radios, ala 980, Lincoln, Stryker and such is the detection on the receive side. To me sounds like some squelching action which I attribute to the AGC circuit. More noticeable after some Hifi mods on the receive side

Got the radio back today. No swing mod was installed. Radio is working awesome. Drives my 2x2879 transistor box very good now.

No component changes, at least that's what he said. Said these radios just need to be tuned. The over aggressiveness of the limiter is gone now for sure.

Seems to be common with the whole president line. I owned a president Richard for a very short time, just wouldn't come alive so it had to go.

Yeah a guy here bought one for his pickup truck. It was the flattest thing I ever heard. He brought it to me and I couldn't do much to it. I gave it back to him and he bought a used cobra 29.

I'd find another tech. Alot of these old timer techs dont/wont mod radios to do more than 100% modulation....

Navy man tune is working great. 2 to 2.5 watt key swinging 35 PEP. 3 watt key swings to almost 40 PEP. RF power all the way up keys 10, and swings 45 to 50 PEP. He said no mods were done. Just tuned it on his bench.
