Okay. Having spoke with Icom service department back and forth a few times including making a audio recording of the sound coming from the radio that the microphone switch makes, he asked me to send it in along with the radio. Because they could not duplicate the problem at the lab. They used an Icom IC 7300 with an sm30 microphone and everything worked fine. Since my equipment is not under warranty and it costs something like $120 for 1 hour of work at Icom Plus shipping both ways and insurance, I won't be sending it in. So it's on me now. I can buy a new one for about $150 from Japan and if the problem still persists it's under warranty. In the meantime I can think around with this one attempting to fix it myself. So I'll try a few things when I get to it. Later maybe buy another one. The only reason I would do that is because I really like the microphone. If I find something else in a desk mic that sounds as good I may go for that instead. Any ideas?
