Just found out that if you order a 2950/70/95 from them, C'opper keeps your E-key (the part that's required for 11 meters) unless you pay them an extra 30 dollars!

What a ripoff! Anyone know of any other Ranger dealers that do this?

What a rip off.I guess I got a bargain when I bought my 2950DX from John Mahoney at Panther Electronics in New Hampshire.When it came it had the key already installed inside and there was another one in the box.Both work.NO I will NOT sell it so don't ask. Sorry.

why can't we reverse engineer that chip. I would like to see a pic of it. is it an eprom?

i was told by the local rci rep a few years back that coppers, and h&y bought the "unmodifiable" dx radios. they were $20 cheaper than the "modifiable" dx radios. the difference was that the copper radios did not come with the mod board, they had to order them seperate. i dont know if its still that way but it could be, this was when the dx's first came out

i asked this because i ordered one from here and she sent me the one without the chip. i let here know and she send the mod board to me 4 days later.
