Radioddity QT-80 Warranty/Service

I have been playing around with the QT-80 I recently purchased from Radioddity. I'm only getting about 50 % power, in all modes. Only 40 peak on SSB, only 30-35 peak in am from only an 8 watt deadkey (all of this is with RF power knob maxed). FM only 18-21 watts, depending on frequency.

I've sent their support address an email describing the issue. I have heard that once they get back to you (they promise 24 hours I think) that they are pretty good and will figure things out.

Anyone had any problems or anything that you needed to deal with warranty service on these or other of their stuff?
 

I have tested using my Astatic 600 3 face meter, a brand new DOSY TB-3001 PSW, and the meters on my AT100Pro tuner. All 3 agree within a few watts. I also tested with a little Astatic PDC-1 meter, which does not show peak readings, but it agrees with the others on the AM deadkey reading and the FM power reading.

Is that one of those radios that you have to access the Service Menu to adjust / set the Low and High RF Power values?

Yes, but I haven't gone there as of yet. I do have the software and the cable and I've gone in and changed some of the regular user accessible settings, but I'm waiting to hear back from radiodity before I do something like get into the service menu.

most of the YouTube reviewers have said that these radios don't really need any tweaking or adjusting. they come from the factory set properly.

Anytone has a software alignment program that is free to download instead of an engineering menu. They QT80 is the same radio as the 6666pro.

Maybe the radio left the assembly line with the RF power intentionally set with a 2 watt Low dead-key and a 8 watt High dead-key and you need to change the values in the Service Menu? We have received one new President Washington mobile, two new Retevis HS4 and one new version AT-5555 Plus and all radios had a 2 - 8 watt dead-key. We had to access the Service Menu to increase the Low and High RF values to obtain the desired RF power.

Just to make sure my meters aren't the issue, I hooked up my Yaesu FT-847 and tried it with the same meters and it was a solid 95-100 watts on SSB. Only getting 35 on the Qt80 at max power.

Well then, your process of elimination may be that there is a good possibility the RF Power settings need to be increased by accessing the Service Menu and the folks at Radioddity will have the answer.

This is my personal opinion and hunch.
Radio retail shops are provided access to Service Menus for the radios they sell. When a buyer requests a tune-up, alignment, peak and tweak, etc. etc., the shops tune-up the radios to the advertised maximum power the customer expects.

My AT-6666 Pro, measures 104W PEP out of the box.
