It's a great 100W SSB radio for the money - but if you need good loud blasting AM as well ..... ya gotta pick something else.

I believe most who are after this radio are looking for ssb performance where it shines.
However, I will say that I have the q6 pro done by Scott's and the few times that I've used it Am, I've gotten unsolicited compliments from locals.

I guess it depends on who you ask.

i live in an environment with s5 to s7 noise floor, outside my hands. hoping the variable nrc on a qt80 is better than the all or nothing nrc on the old quad5

got a few hours on it now, having problem with driver on my 12 year old laptop, so still running without programming. it makes me miss the k-po dx5000 when moving around. the stock mic sounds good enough to keep, so changing frequency isn't bad. i appreciate all the info folks have posted on this radio. it has calmed down my noise some, and anything is gain in that department.
