RCI 2995 DX recieves and transmits but no audio on recieve?

I do have pa output,and I plugged in external speaker very very low

Two questions. If you turn the volume full up, and rock the squelch knob from end to end, do you hear a soft "thump" from the speaker?

Second, does the S-meter reveal normal movement from skip, chatter on 19 or channel noise?

Or does it just lay down at zero?

No soft thump,And yes the s-meter moves.The radio recieves and transmits.

Whups! Forgot to ask if plugging an external speaker into the PA jack, and selecting PA mode gets you audio when keying the mike. Would have saved some time if I had remembered to ask.

If you do have loud PA audio, I suspect Q73 could be bad.

And if you DON'T have any PA audio, the problem is upstream from Q73.
