Everything looks good from the pictures, don't see anything out of place or cut/removed. Remove the two wires at VR6 for starters. Wouldn't hurt to replace the trimmer pot at VR6, as it may have gone fault. Give that a try and let us know how you get on. Thanks!

You been giving good advise here. But that is not a dail-a-watt mod. The mod done to your radio is just an extend the VR to the front panel.
As E13 said, remove wires and varify VR pot is good.

The Cap Kit is coming by the 4th. I have a feeling one or more of the Electrolytics are bad.

Did you try to re-install that variable pot - just to see if the radio has output - once again?

Update!: Got the Capacitor Kit today and started changing them out. Got eleven done before my eyes decided to take a break.
I'm gonna work on it again after supper Robb, I'll try with the variable again.
