Your right . I quit drinking a very long time ago. Does any of it really taste good ? Oh sure , maybe your mixed drinks to help them go down better , it's all an aquired taste so to speak. I personally liked the high scotch gave me more so then anything else ,the same was for Beefeatters Gin , not the most pleasent tasting alcohol on earth , but again , like scotch , gin kind of gave me a different kind of high. You could almost say the same thing about Jose Chervo , stright ,with a shot of lemon and salt , for me ,that could be a very dangerous high. Tequila (To-Kill-Ya ) News at a 11 . i dont like any of our whiskies not even expensive single malt compared to jacks finest and im sure i never tasted his finest over here,
my dad loves teachers but to me its like battery acid,
i would take jim beam over that anyday, the 12-15 years matured bells is palatable but only just,

i once swapped a bottle of johnny walker black lable for a 706 icom with a bandpass filter switching fault through transmitting on the 31mhz telephone frequencies, i either swapped him so he could drown his sorrows or he would smash it up like the 2950 he gave me after he smooshed another cb trough the 2950's circuit board because the finals went down,
after the deal was done the guy gave me a taste of the jw, YUCK,
a couple of dap 222's and 1 surface mount transistor later the icom was up and running perfect followed by a glass of 43% jd to celebrate

If we are going on "taste", I have never found any alcoholic drinks to taste "good". YECH! To me, they all stink and taste WORSE :!: Again, this is all about "taste", not morality or any
dangers associated with drinking to excess. For me, if I have to acquire a taste for something, I don't have time for it!So I'll stay with my Coca Colas, thanks, and drive home after drinking too many of them-----that is, if you don't mind if I stop off to pee a couple times! Not too long ago a friend of mine who retired from an agency that required foreign postings took me up to his beer attic where he makes English beers and brews as a hobby. He was taught it during his tour in Britain. To be polite, I accepted a pint of ale (or whatever it is :? ) and sipped with him, mindful that, if one is not careful, that stuff would knock you on your a$$ and *I* am not used to it.
That stuff was absolutely AWFUL! Enough to gag a maggot!!!!!
(SPIT-TOOEY! :shock: ) WOW! How can people drink something so nasty, IMHO?

I liken the subject of drinking to that of my liking broccoli and you liking raw onions (yuck!)! It's a matter of "taste"!

By the way, if you go into a Scottish pub and order a "scotch", they'll look at you funny and not know what you want. If you want a blended scotch like Dewars, Johnnie W., Chivas, etc, you order a "whisky." If you want a single malt like Glen Fiddich, or Macallan, or Laphroig, you order a "malt." Or order by name if you have a specific one you like. Most pubs now have ice on hand (they didn't until recently) but whisky is meant to be taken straight or with a little room temperature water only.

Also, you don't tip the barman in UK.
