Hello guys I'm a bit confused I have a hp frequency counter and I hooked it up to my hp signal generator Im getting tone, which means I'm under 10khz. Reads 91.0000 ect... . Can't understand which is if off calibration generator or frequency counter thanks.

A man who wear two wristwatches never really knows what time it is.
One or both of those will have a 10MHz bnc output port. borrow a frequency counter from some one and check that port on both. Or spend the bucks and have the frequency counter calibrated.

Usually, on the back of the counter it will tell you if any options have been installed. Looks like it can do a ghz or more; but it should also say if it has a TCXO or an OCXO.

Got a pic of the sig gen, because I'd be willing to trust that counter, it is a pretty solid piece.

confused is it rf out to counter or is it modulation out to counter ?
Never connect it directly to the transmission line. It will blow up the input circuits making it useless.
It is a Frequency Counter. Will read the dead carrier frequency and the audio if it is demodulated. It is a good one to have. I bought one from a salvage company and had to repair it and get it calibrated.

Now, add a 9v batter clip and a 9v battery and then you use you O=scope probe on the oscillator circuits and trigger your freq counter without loading the circuit and getting a FALSE reading.
