sirio top one

was curious if anyone on here has tried one.havent seen any info
on this yet other than whats on sirios website

I was thinking or asking the same question the other day in another thread. Seems soon after the NTO was introduced in the US the price dropped to just under $100 and then I've not heard a word since, not even a negative word. I tried searches on several forums and got no hits looking for "New Top One."

At the intro of the NTO some folks commented that it didn't look to work like the original Avanti AstroPlane, but other than it being feed differently, it looks to be the same to me, an effectively center fed 1/2 wave radiator, that uses a cone type sleeve at the bottom to help shield the coax to the bottom of the sleeve. The difference I see compared to the original is that the original seems to feed the 1/2 wave radiator from the bottom end rather than the top end. Both have the coaxial feed point sitting at a current node on the radiator, basically in the center so it can be directly fed without a matcher. To me, it looks just like a yagi driven element sitting on a boom.

I talked to a local on my radio the other day and he said he received his NTO over a month ago, but has not tried it yet. I was talking about the new Sirio Gain Master and he mentioned he wanted to try his New Top One. If I hear a report from him, I will post his results. He seems to be a pretty sharp fellow, so maybe he'll shoot straight.

i noticed they look different .and the new one has a gamma match.i cant tell from pics
but it looks like the antenna doesnt build around the mast like the orignal.looks
like most antennas out now that build as a whole then slides onto the mast.also wondering if it works well at low heights like the orignal

i cant believe theres not more replies .back in the day the astroplane
many said they were a good antenna.and also said that if ya
cant get your antenna up high the astroplane was a great choice

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
