Didnt Galaxy beat the FCC in court, on the grounds that it was perfectly legal for any shop modify the radio for CB freq, for the purposes of "receive only".

Not like you get a trial or anything, i think there is an appeal process but not a regular trial like we used to be guaranteed.

An export or "10 meter" radio is what it is, a 10 meter CB out the box, works fine for 10 meters if thats what you use it for, just kinda awkward to flip to each channel and move the clarifier all around or to remember to flip the 10khz switch every 4 or 5 channels. Its a CB, 8 images of 40 channels, but so what.

Most any respected ham rig can be converted with a "trivial modification", clip a diode on a kenwood, solder a jumper on a yaesu, etc.

Funny how alot of your htx-10's, alincos, etc use the same boards as these 'export radios', solder a jumper and press a combo of buttons and it goes from 2khz tuning to multiple bands of the 40 cb channels.

And any modern yaesu 2m can be opened for 136-174, I have heard of enforcement action against VFD's and businesses for using ham gear, makes alot of sense to go after volunteer firefighters, of course they got caught because some QRZ ham snitched on them.

Its all selective enforcement, i am sure if they wanted to they could but every ham operator out there for some technicality.

I was gonna say when I seen this thread emerge again I didnt know what was coming!! They won thats pretty wild I must say way to stand your ground to the attorney!!

Isn't that lawyer a member here?

yes,... starts with the letters SHIO....:sneaky2:

... and the REASON "he" won was because the FCC agents were unprepared and stupid, NOT, because his legal point was correct.

No such thing as a 10 meter CB.

when there there are 5 skipped channels in the first 20 channels, when channels 24 and 25 come before channel 23, when its got 10khz channels with a 5khz offset, when you gotta use the clarifier to change frequency.........................................its a CB, i dont care if it operated on microwave frequencies, vhf, uhf or just a few multiple images of 40 channels up and down from 26.965-27.405.

radio amateurs used to swap the crystals in the old 23ch sets, unless its got a VFO, they made 10 meter CB's, same channel plan, tuning scheme, etc.

Now when i programmed the first 40 VFO memories in my kenwood, and programmed them starting wit 26.965,etc.............Its still a full coverage HF rig.

Sure I can tune the same on my Galaxy, but to scan the bands it goes something like, turn band selector to A, band switch to low, flip channels one through 3, then flip the 10khz switch, then slip the 10khz switch down and flip channels 4 throu 8, 10khz switch, 10khz switch, 9-etc,etc,etc, then turn the band selector, etc, etc, etc.

I hope galaxy makes a mode switch, the 10khz up switch should be changed to a 2khz,5khz,10khz switch and if possible within the limits of the chip have a mode where it goes just off freq, like you can do with alot of once "legit" 10 meter radios.
