Looks like a rebadged wilson 5000. Check the connection of the coax at the base load and also if supplied with a 2 piece connector (SMA to pl259), cut that thing off and install a good pl259. I have seen and have experienced myself that the connector (2 piece) is crap and will eventually fail especially if running anything but a stock radio. They aren't made to handle any power and are really just crappy IMO. Have you cut anything off the whip? I know that with my wilson 5000 I had to cut roughly a 1/2-1" off the whip to get it to tune. Hope you get it resolved and god bless
Undertaker , I know this is a long shot but I had a new Mag Mount antenna that was giving me problems there was a single stand of the shield on the end of the connection were it screws into the radio causing me grief I plucked it out an it was fine .
Is there a commercial broadcast radio/tv station antenna anywhere near you? Like within a couple of miles? High power external RF has been a cause of grief with MFJ analyzers since day 1.
Those 2 piece connectors they use really do suck. I thought that might be the issue. Same thing with a k40 and the SMA to pl259. Connector went Bad! Changed it out with a good amphenol pl259 and it was all good after that. Soldering is not hard! It can be a pita sometimes but connectors are pretty easy to put on with a decent solder gun and some good solder. Home Depot has a decent weller solder gun I think it's about 40 dollars. Worth every penny once you learn how to use it!! Anyway, hope you get it resolved, if there is shop or something maybe take it there and have a good connector put on, but IMO I would get a solder iron myself and learn. God bless and hope you get it resolved.
Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
