There's an really interesting article on page 95 of the June QST about an amazing "wireless" transmitting station. The thing was mammoth. Just the statistics on it are amazing. I read the article to my wife while she was cooking and had her look at the pictures.
At the end I said "Just be happy I don't want to build one that big"
She said "I am!"

Check it out

That's close to home for me.....

I know the author of the article (John K2TQN), he's an interesting guy with quite a collection of old radios, and a wealth of radio knowledge. I always read his artilces in QST.

Tuckerton is about 20 miles north of my QTH, I'm not old enough to remember the tower, but I have heard some of the old timers talk about it before.

As for the other half...she doesn't even like my wire dipole antennas, most of which I have hidden in the trees, I doubt she'd even go for a 30 foot tower let alone one that's 825 feet high.....:scared:

I was reading that lastnight and looking at those old pics they had with the article that was a cool article to say the least I sometimes wonder when reading about these older projects and looking at the pics HOW THE HELL DID THEY GET THEMSELVES TO ACTUALLY DO IT!

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
