thinking on buy a base radio

they only show 2 cb radios on their site . for the cost of the Texas Ranger TR696F (which is a referb price) you could get a cobra 2000 which is a better radio . for the price of the North Point CBS1000you could get a uniden madision or for almost half the price a uniden washington , still better radios IMO .

if youre looking at exports youre looking at $400 to almost $600 for just 10-11 and 12 meter capability . for $650 you can get a real ham radio that'll do 100 watts , put a quiet Jetstream JTPS28 power supply on it for $84 and youll have much more frequency coverage and better ears for similar money spent compared to the high powered radios .

Jetstream 28 Amp Power Supply

just a few options/things to consider .

Booty has the right idea, get you a HF ham radio,100 watts output and over all a better quality radio, just be careful where you transmit at

I spent 600$ on a used Icom 736 and it is by far the best radio I have ever owned....and the best part is when or if you ever do get your ham license you will have the radio in hand

Careful guys. Our friend Megatron sounds like a CBer...which is fine.

The "100 watt ham rigs"...that's going to be on sideband only and most HF rigs (not all) won't even sound good on AM much less not be seeing anywhere near that 100 watt power level.

You might want to look at the RCI 2517 or 2995DX for a radio that does all of 11 meters (CB), will be a screamer on AM and have lots of extra goodies.

Cobra 2000, Washingtons, Madisons ect.. all used radios that aren't made anymore. Megatron seems to be looking for a new radio.
