I had one of the small K40 radios, that had the speech processor unit on the radio board not contained in the microphone. Dave at DTB had tuned everything for me and I was pleased with the results. I had used it for a few years at my main mobile radio. RIP- to the big CB junk pile in the sky. Bob Fitzpatrick, from Bob's CB had installed an MD-1 in my Texas Ranger 696 FD1, and tuned everything accordingly. Bob treated it like an NPC mod and left it run all the time. This was a rare day that Bob was not piled up with work, he instructed that adding the CP-1 at the time would be waste of money if I did not talk regularly on SSB, as its performance would be most noticed on SSB. It's assuming to look back at the progression of our radios in this hobby. Currently my Texas Ranger 696 FD-1 has been pretty much returned to stock, except for the upgraded MOSFET final that Bob had added. Come to think about, most all my radios in the collection are stock, and have a stock 3.5 or 4 watt DK switching to whatever. I remember the MD-1 and CP-1 being placed on switches in the Magnum Radios.
