Sorry but by now I'm grasping at straws . I cleaned the contacts , put a fresh battery in an took the plug apart an found 1 strand of frayed shield wire an thought I found the issue . Nope plugged it in to the 2000 an it distorted my audio .??? The only thing I found is mic wiring I found said 5 wires this mic has 4 , I assume the yellow wire is in the cable although I don't see it .Any suggestions would be appreciated .At this point I'm relay to shelf it . The person I bought this radio from CLAIMS he was using it .Just glad I have My Silver Eagle that works fine . Thanks

If its distorting the receiver audio then it sounds like it is pulling power from the radio. Cut the plug off and wire it up one wire at a time plugging it in to the radio each time. By doing this you will see which wire is causing the issue.

Hello gentlemen and Ladies. I have the dreaded RCI-2990 receive issue where my radio gets distorted when people get close to my location. I found the C90 Capacitor, but I can not for the life of me find the C89 capacitor. Can or does anyone have a picture of the exact location of C89 ? Thank you in advance, Wes
