Glad you got it worked out.
I'm slightly impressed with my 980. I should run it more than I do.

Good radio.
Turned my RD down from 3/4 to 1/4 and the locals can tell no difference. Loud and clear.

Mine does it even with the stock mic...no idea.
Son is running it in the pickup and it’s not noticeable there. Very annoying on the bench though.
Riverman,
I use a snap on ferrite bead on all of my radios mike cords right at the plug to the transceiver to stop such annoyances.

You care to share what size you used to fit the mic cord. I see several in my searches. Maybe I won't have to do the trial and error.Read your post, applied the same solution and totally forgot what thread I had read.
Sure, everything into or out of the radio needs filter consideration.
I “knew” that. Ha!
Don’t know why it escaped me. It’s not as though running the roads in a big truck had the mike & cord hanging near my face or anything.
Worked VERY well. That $5 ferrite killed $70 worth of noise.
Guess I’m going to be buying that size in bulk. It’s just TOO useful in mobile
Thanks again!
