Looking for any ideas on mounting an antenna on a vintage truck in the original fender hole.
I was thinking possibly an original type antenna, if I can find one, with a match box...but only as a last effort. Just gonna be hooking up a Cobra 25 for more nostalgia, but function as well. My nephews truck and request.
Of course I'm going to have to recap the Cobra and make sure all is working. The radio has a sort of sentimental value him as he got it from passed friend.
Thanks.

Every mount I can remember to fit that size hole was discontinued decades ago. Hustler had one with a small swivel ball to compensate for the tilted mounting surface. Used a1/4 inch by 20 pitch thread for their stingers and for that mount, rather than the 3/8-24 that's become the standard since the 80s.

But looking under rocks to find an accessory to fit a truck that old is probably a familiar habit by now.

Thanks, I'll keep a look out.
Well, my nephew has a lot of ideas, and he usually passes them onto me for some kind of solution. We've pulled a few rabbits out of a hat to get him going. Maybe the old standby antenna...a coat hanger. But I don't think he has the base.
He wants to stay old school, maybe try and convince him a 102" whip is about as old school as you can get. In fact I still have the mount off my father in laws 64 wagon...won't fit in the hole though;)
