just noticed the mike gain knob pulls out and in just like a switch and it says mike gain and anf not sure what anf stand for when I push it in the static gets louder when pushedin the static gets deeper and ideas?
 

I still have a new in the plastic owners manual, let me dig that out here in the next day and read to see. As I recall it did something to the receive.
 
Think it is the same as the 'GNF' or 'Galaxy Noise Filter' of the Galaxy DX-959.

Supposed to change the signal-to-noise ratio

In the "GNF" mode,
you are in CB operation but the Galaxy Noise Filter (GNF) is engaged.
This is a special noise filter that de-emphasizes audio high frequency
response in order to increase the signal-to-noise ratio of weak signals.
While you will notice a dramatic reduction in the "rushing" sound when
this filter is activated, it does not have much effect on the signal-to-noise
ratio of strong signals.
