I am considering buying a macbook pro

I have NEVER used a mac before and I will be coming from an XP enviroment.

I mostly surf and have a few ham radio programs (HRD, UI-View, echolink and similar)

Will I be happy with a Mac?

Will it be an easy transition from Winblows?

Is it worth the switch?

It will be an extremely easy transition but I'm not sure it's worth the premium price tag.

I've used mac computers for years but my last laptop purchase led me to a linux system and so far I've been very pleased.

I would agree with that. In addition, you will have less applications/programs to run on that Mac - as there are still MANY more programs written for PC's than Macs. I wouldn't own a Mac for that reason - as well as paying more for it. Also, Mac hardware isn't as powerful as a PC's.
eg: video cards are cheaper and far more powerful for PC's than what is available for Macs.

There are so many practical reasons that I wouldn't own a Mac, that is but one example. A Mac is more of a status symbol these days - but certainly not a techie's dream team of hardware!

Forget it. Most of ham radio software is running on Windows and PC's.
Of course you can install Windows on MAC, but.... comatibility issuses.
I would stay with PC.

I went from XP Pro to a mac yrs ago..

Transition is very easy..

Not a single virus or worm or any such thing in yrs

I love these posts....

.... get ready, y'all ...

This will soon devolve into Windows v Linux v Mac OS.

Each religion's proponents arm up, please.
