Radio works, just had to reset everything via; DW + POWER gone through the menu's and reset and pow! just gotta remember anyone who plays with the radio better not key above 148mhz

It worked for you, right? My only suggestion is to be a bit gentler on your radio's board on the next mod you perform. It looks like you completely killed the left solder pad when you removed the resistor.

Don't feel too bad...I've done that before also. Live and learn...

Hello everyone, I have been reading a lot on these forums and have finally made a decision to purchase the Yaesu FTM-350AR. I did however want to ask a few questions in relation modifying the radio...

The FTM-350AR receives in the 108-137 MHz air band range and the 174 to 250MHz range... is there any way to enable transmit in these frequency ranges?

The other 2 "resistors" that are still left after performing the MARS/Cap mod, what happens if they are removed? Does it continue ot open the TX ability of the radio, does the radio explode  , or does nothing happen? Has anyone tested to see what the results are?

And Moleculo, your posts have been informative and I am glad that someone with your knowledge is willing to post to inform the less knowledgable. Thank you!

No, the radio won't transmit in the air band or outside of the standard 220Mhz band (222-225Mhz). I did try messing around with the other 2 resistors when I figured out this mod. I don't remember exactly what happened, but I know it wasn't successful. I seem to remember that removing one of them prevented transmit altogether, but I might be thinking of a different radio.

Hope that helps.

Hi Moleculo..
i know this thread is old however i have recently removed the resistor as per thread on my ftm 350.
removal of resisitor very fast and smooth.

on restart of unit, yes it looks like it reset (all manual inputs lost).
i notice on tx now i get tx error ,it seems in all bands.

am i missing something?
I tried the manual reset (hold button to left of pwr button plus pwr button - switch on) thinking this will actually force reset to factory, as it appears it did.
reset all performed. ok. confirmed.

Is there something from reset that is preventing my tx issue?
Help if you can.
I am missing something.

Anything to do with program button inside?

What is the program procedure if required?
pc required or a bluetooth wireless (cellphone) link is sufficient?

thanks Marty

It just worked on my end.
hi..
old link i know.

i just did this mod and i have tx error everywhere.
mssg Molecular no reply yet.

do i need to do anything special after resistor removal?
Would a menu item thats reset itself cause tx error?
i have error at 146mhz ..local repeater!

any ideas..
Marty

thought... do i need an update?
version 1.0 from memory currently.
where do i download latest firmware and get it on rig.
cable required?

OK so those who have EU version - your resistors look like:
0 0
0-0
0 0
0-0

You need to remove all resistors and connect 1st and 3rd lines so it will look like final result here, on original post image:
0-0
0 0
0-0
0 0
I just did it and it works, plus 1.25m band TX is now available.
Hope it helps
