I Sure Hate Doing A New Installation.......

I'm jealous two of you got some sweet Ford P/U trucks lately I replaced mine with a Mitsubishi Mighty Max about 5 years ago to save on fuel ... Epic Fail I bang my head at least once a week getting in that thing .

The last V8 I owned was in 1972 so I was gonna have a 5.0L V8 in this truck and I do and I'm lovin' it. Gas prices be damned!!!! Life's too short to worry about a few miles per gallon.

That's what I think about my truck too. 5.7 liters with 381 hp is just too fun to drive to care. It's a fully loaded Toyota Tundra Crew Max with the TRD off road package. The cab is HUGE on that thing with four full sized doors and more legroom in the back than in the front and the front has plenty.

I hear they are a beast for room on the inside.
My 2012 GMC has the 5.3 and with the cold air intake, cat back exhaust, it motivates nicely. :)

Man those Toyota crew max trucks are the cats meow, test drove one about a year ago and was very impressed with the power it makes!! And the room in them is huge! One heck of a truck. Nice truck capt.

Yeah it is sweet I must admit. It has a large power moon roof in it as well as a power rear window. The entire rear window drops down out of sight. First time I ever saw that instead of the power sliding windows.

To be honest, I wouldn't hack up the interior of that truck. Mine was easy as I had no center console in the front. I did and install that required 3 screws to hold everything down.

That's why it has been two years and no radio gear yet. The only stuff I put in it is a GPS navigator on the lower left of the windshield and a dash cam video recorder mounted under the rear view mirror also on the windshield.

I was going to buy the Toyota FJ Cruiser but the more I looked at it the less I liked it. Getting in and out of the back was going to be a PITA with two big teenaged boys. This is the big reason I went with a truck. It hauls it nicely, I hardly even know it's there even tho it weighs in about 3300 lbs. loaded. The truck is 19.5 feet bumper to bumper and the trailer is also 19.5 feet hitch to bumper. The box is only 5.5 feet but with the tailgate down I can still pick up 4x8 sheets no problem. The 4x4 in it is awesome and it is actually very good in 2 WD.2013-08-09_12-30-01_792.jpg

Here's mine. The color, Sunset metallic, is only in their line up for this year. I'm 6' tall and can set the drivers seat where I'm comfy and still stretch my legs out and not touch the firewall. I'm also loving the backup camera which at first I though was a silly option. I was wrong. I'm going to probe around today for a place to run power and coax without drilling any holes.

Capt.K mentioned not using a stake pocket mount because of his Tonneau cover. I bought the Breedlove low profile stake pocket mount that's made for use under camper tops and covers and it installed just fine. The rubber seal under my Extang Trifecta molds right over it and doesn't leak. I did a leak test on it at the carwash. It also mounts and removes easily.

Ratso , I love that color ! I'm sure that pic isn't doing it any justice some of those special Ford colors almost look like they have a " Pearl " effect . Good luck on your new ride !

You don't need a truck to pull that little thing. I have a Ford Mondeo 2 litre TDCi (sold as the Taurus in the USA) and I pull a caravan that is 28ft long and weighs 3900lb with it just fine and it can even do 40+MPH towing it up a local 15% gradient that has a sharp S bend at the start so you can't get a good run up. Fuel economy suffers a bit admittedly but it'll still manage over 30 MPG.

When towing it is torque that matters more than outright horsepower and a mid-sized 2-3L turbo diesel engine will have as much or more torque than a gas V8.
