Well i go to use my TS 2000 i hit auto tune and it just gives me an error peep did not even try to tune... it is 4 years old with varey little hours on it....
Swr meter has no reading. No power output on hf.. i did a full reset on it..
Vhf/uhf works of corse
So thinking the worst has happend and i am in no way capble of fixing this thing where do i send it?

Ok cool there is a guy in Syracuse, NY its a 2hr drive from Buffalo but ill be able to take it there and have them mail it back if i don't want to drive but ill at least be able to talk to them in person...

This is the reason I don't like the "shack in a box" rigs, they go down and you loose all the bands.

If i were able to do it again I would have just spent the money on an HF rig or a Kenwood 590s I don't even talk on VHF/UHF.

Hindsight is 20/20 all though i don't see how this would save me a radio... i am Fed now i cant get this fixed till tax time and even if i have some to spare... so as of now i am out of the game...

The TS-2000 had the longest production run of any Kenwood HF rig. Still have/use mine. But like any radio, they aren't invincible nor invulnerable. They have a set of known faults. Not the best radio I've owned - but far from being the worst. Sorry to read that you have trouble with yours now.

I am having a hell of a hard time finding out what Final Mosfets this has in it.. none of the PA boards look the same and look different from the service manual.. from what i am seeing they switched from bipolar transistors C5125 to mosfets at some point....

Bummer. My neighbor lost his TS-480HX for no apparent reason last year. Just wouldn't power up one day. Cost to repair wasn't worth getting it fixed by the guy in NYC. He said keep it.

I like the old Kenwood stuff like the TS-430S. Got the Toshiba 2sc2290s in it. My Yaesu FT-1000MP has the Toshiba 2sc2879s in it. Just seem to be more reliable, those devices.

Hopefully you can locate the finals for it or get the whole PA section used somewhere.

This is a google group that may be of help:

These folks may have the parts you need:

did you check the internal fuse .inside the radio.

That 4 amp Fuse is for the external tuner.. and it is fine..

The schematic diagram I have is for the old Ver... Even the paper work it came from is not right, it is not matching up with what I have so i am flying blind..

on mine it has a fuse inside the radio that protects the finals i think it was f1 if i remember correctly. mine is new only a few months old. one day i turned the radio on. it had no tx. i replaced the fuse. all is good now. unless they changed the radio. just saying my issue.
