Mods for the Cobra 200GTL

One more thing

Well now that I got that fixed, I need more info on the NightWatch lighting.
This one does not light up. The meter and display lights and dims with the pushbutton control, but the NightWatch backlighting does nothing.

I have the Schematic (Near Schematic) from CBtricks for the 150.
Does anyone know if the NightWatch is AC or DC voltages. Anyway to Hotwire them on?

The Nightwatch PCB is a PFS-00037-BB

Receive Tone Modification:

Placing a 0.0047uF cap from R133 (the side opposite C26) to ground cleans up a lot of the white noise. I ran mine to the "non functional after modification +10kHz" switch so I could switch it in and out.

I know this is an old thread but I was just searching receive mods for the cobra 200 and found this. Can you provide a little more detail about where you installed the .0047uf cap to clean up the white noise problem? maybe a pic? How well does this work?

How can i disable the talkback on a rev 3 board where they tied it to the ECHO switch?
as soon as you turn on the echo talkback comes on..
this was not done like rev 1 and 2 boards where thing were added..
This is factory tied to the switch

since you have the radio in front of you here is the mod to add talk back. more than likely they did it about the same way. look and compare the talk back mod and you may be able to just reverse it.

nope it is not that version this is hard wired to the echo switch itself. the best i can find
is to lower or higher the volume by 109
there are no traces of the other 2 types of talkback additions on this board at all.

NPC RC mod available, did it today on a Cobra 200. 6 Watt dead key swings to 30 bird on low-power peak of 105, 20 watt dead key swings to 60 bird on high-power 135 peak. Pretty easy to keep a clean signal as well. Any interest anymore in a mod for this radio like this?
