Hey im new here but not to cb radios

Im not a cb repair person.but ive owned many radios in my 63 years on this globe.
But i traded for a galaxy 99 V .it recives real good.puts out well too.i got a browning coil antenna on back middle of my truck cab.its about 1 ft taller than my trailer.talked to a guy today we were mobile but we were able to reach eachother about 14 miles.imhad my rf set at 8 watts.i checked n its maxed out at 11 watts dead key.shot skip on 38 then up in a diffrent place on lsb.
My radio shows 1 problem.channel selector is darn touchy like maybe dirty inside.just lightly touch edge of knob n frequincy climbs up.will spraying it with electrical contac cleaner help or is it channel selector switch time?

Spray away! In the worst case scenario you would have to change the channel selector.

Thank you,was thinkin it might be gummy .they are what first built in 99?
This 1 has had some work done to it .but it has set a while not used.the guymi traded with said worked fine when he quit using it.he hooked it to a power supply n a base antenna.it worked.but when i strated using itnthis started so was think9n getnthe crc contac spray cleanerbcan n spray n twist

the spray cured it.while inwas at it i hit the switches n dials .it works smoother n no static when going frommusb am lsb too

The Galaxy 99 is older then 1999 for sure potentially. Glad you got it working right. They tend to drift like a sailboat on SSB. Have fun all the same.

9C1 , is right I have one , got it sent it out to be checked and it's still sitting on the shelf . No disrespect I'm not a big fan of them , ( sailboat issue ) Just curious what your max output is . But also realize at sometime in it's life it might have been in a smoke filled truck drivers cab , hence the gummy syndrome .

I have a 99v and it had been made into an AM talker by the guy I got it from. Unfortunately the side band is unusable. Not a huge loss on a sail boat. The drifting issue is not a problem on AM.

Well its working fine on am,real fine.ssb very few contacs.
Power wise my old swr meter says 8 watts dead key whistle or talk loud n swings to 13 watts am.i got a president grant that might take its place.old grant has always been great on both am and ssb
