Dead Key

1. Set Mic Gain to 0.
2. Key mic.
3. Read watts on watt meter.

If that's not right, I've been doing it wrong for fifty years, Bobby.

PS My senior moment yesterday while sitting in the Home Depot parking lot:

Me: Headed home, Honey.
Wife: Did you find what you were looking for?
Me: Yep. And it was even cheaper . . . Dadgumit!
Wife: What's wrong?
Me: (Flustered) Hang on!
Wife: What's going on?
Me: Dang it! I can't find my phone!
Wife: What?
Me: My cell phone's missing! I must've left it in the store!
Wife: You serious?
Me: Yes! It's gone!
Wife: (Pause) Uh, you do know you're talking on it, right?
Me: o_O  Headed home, Honey.

You cannot get an accurate DK reading UNLESS a dummy load is used. Goes for PEP too. Man, thought you already geared up? If you need a dummy load for a radio, it is far cheaper than a dummy load for an amp. Check out texcomm on eBay, he has 'em cheap enough.

Old school Lincoln is about twice the radio a 250HD model can tolerate.

You can try pushing in both the "SSB" and "AM" buttons at the same time to reduce the drive level.

Usually works, but if the radio is too large, the resistors behind those two buttons may overheat.

The 250 is intended for a single-final legal 40-channel radio. The Lincoln's transmitter is supposed to deliver nearly twice that much.
