Whats the chance no tv ,cb,am fm radio, sattalite signals?
They bored test holes east of my house 800 feet by 800 feet north of my place.
This snake oil cure for a problem creates more than it cures.
Sadly we live in a class 1 county but they jammed this throught without anybodys consent who lives around here

I drove 65 nearly every day from Chitown down thru Indianapolis with no noise on the CB - if anything they fixed their noisier ballasts and power station distribution sites and took care of a lossy grid thru that upgrade.

They kinda needed to - anyone on a hot summer day can easily look west off of 65 and see a power plant smokestack just belching smoke and haze when your travelling just south of Chicago. But, with the losses in the grid due to older equipment - that upgrade was a necessity.

RWB, this may be what you need to clear up noisy power lines - because if anything - they clear out some of the power line routes to make the distribution better and less likely to fail.

But, if that bothers you - I do understand for we have had issues of environment as well as safety concerns - we only pushed back the development time but it is inevitable.

Interesting Article - the "hump" at about 3.7~4MHz is interesting.

That can be from the unshielded electronics located in the Hub/Generator of the unit.

It could correlate back to the built in oscillator that was needed to handle the logics and logistics as well as "communication" back to central site location from those units.

Kinda like the Bluetooth argument - darn if you do, darned if you don't.

But in light of the upgrade to the power grid and the funds that arrive for the effort - six of one 1/2 - dozen of another...

(Be aware the FCC might check your station so be sure you are clean and legal)
I would not be overly concerned. If the turbine is in between the satellite and your dish your signal is a goner.(Might be a chance for free cable for life) Noise wise for your radio work the FCC is very active in noise complaints. I raised concerns with the power company after I got my ham tickets.
I had S9 noise all day everyday 24-7. A large portion of the noise was power line discharging around insulators and arcing on transformers. I told them I was going to file a formal complaint with the FCC unless something was done. Three days later my noise floor was S2-3 during the day and lower at night.
If you have radio emission problems with the power company, they have to fix it or the FCC will issue a citation of non compliance and fines will be pretty stiff.

Whats upsetting we voted years ago to make our county a clean tidy county.if you wanted to erect the towers you had to go in front of the public n let us decide.somehow a loophole is discovered.noise n whine from generator is like a bad buzzing florescent lite but stronger.we have raised hell with the county commissioner.we decided undertable payoffs like politicians...whats bad the area is under 1 electric coop and another is getting the electric.how is a goid question becausebit was 1 company cant go where another exists

Keep watch on the grounds around the turbines. If you find endangered species of birds being killed you might be able to shut them down. Those things are terrible on the local wildlife. An eagle flying by can be swatted out of the air like a gnat. In Colorado they were finding all kinds of birds being killed.
I don't know if that shut them down or if they changed the hours of operation but there was some outcry.

oh i already rasied hell about the eagles.i have a big tree lightning struck 5 years ago.was going to cut it down but a pair of bald eagles roost in it every year after tree died.
Called mo conservation dept n was told "its a trade off for the betterment of our enviroment" i went ballistic n said i accidently shoot 1 its like $100000 fine n 10 years in prison.was told yes but this is diffrent .i said we spent a fortune to save eagles n now we put these huge killers up? You gotta be kiddin me.
This whole area is an eagle haven.its not uncommon from this time of year up to early summer to take a 10 mile radius drive n see 14 to 20 eagles.
More of our double standards our government pokes down our throats

You would love going on an eagle watch up here in February or March. They come down to this area of the Annapolis Valley for the winter and it is nothing to see a dozen IN ONE TREE!! There are a lot of poultry producers in the area and they take any dead birds out to the field for the eagles to feast on during the winter. Generally lots of hawks as well.

I live about 25 miles from Tug Hill in New York (see link - photo on page 3). The wind farm in that location has the new state of the art turbines. I drove up that way many times with no RF effects on my 40m,uhf, vhf and CB radios.

The environmental community in this area has also been actively collecting data on bird deaths. So far this newer design is a showing a fraction of deaths compared to the old design. To get a better perspective, the 3 page following link compares the old with the new design. My glass is half full on this issue.
