advice on groundplanes please

hi i am after some advice on wether putting a full size 1/4 wave groundplane on my thunderpole 5/8th wave antenna with 12 inch radials would improve the antenna

I tend to keep it simple. I like maco 5/8 ground plane and for $100 or so you cant go wrong. As far as a Frankenstein antenna, I cant really help there but im sure someone here can.

If the gp wasn't in the original design then I don't see any improvement in adding them. But then again, it doesn't hurt to try it just for grins. If you do, let us know how it works.

No, it won't improve. 1/2 wave antenna does not need them at all.
Good example how dumb antenna manufacturer is.

Perhaps it will help in ways not obvious to most people, such as limiting common mode currents on the feedline.

Physics would like a word with you. The reason CBs got a reputation for causing TV interference was precisely because of a lack of ground planes.

12 inch radials are a waste of time. four 9ft ones would do nicely though or you could adapt the ground plane kit for the Imax 2000 antenna.

Not necessarily.
If an antenna is installed correctly with or without a ground plane, it should NOT cause TVI.
