11 meter is very quiet?

Yes but garbage in, garbage out. How much money do you want to spend? Double it and you will be half way there. No, seriously it starts with the audio stage being studio grade and keeps it at that level through the RF amplification. Being double sure that you are not overdriving any stage along the way. Asymmetrical modulation can play a big part of this.

To which post are you referring?

The base station (using a Galaxy mobile) at X87 is where the details were gone through in a highly admirable fashion. From a distance, there’s nothing to correct.

CH-6 is a whole other thang.

.
The bros on 6. X87?

Many are running garbage in, garbage out, and garbage everywhere.

I get the allure of the bowl. I ran big class C amps in the 1990s, and participated in our local Friday night key downs. It was a blast, and developed a number of great friendships from it.

I also understand why people like wideband audio.

But, for God’s sake, when you’re S9 a MHz in every direction from your plan...that’s just disgusting. I can’t imagine what pops up in harmonics well away from 27mhz.

I don’t care if people run a few gigawatts on Ch 6...but I sure as hell wish they’d keep it there.

Oh how well I know (and share) that feeling with you. Like this guy, for example, that calls himself Tango Charlie... lives a mile or so from me. Many channels wide, over modulated terribly and usually past the point of distorted.
