Little tarheel ii install

Just for reference, here's a Hustler pot belly spring. This us what I thought you were using.

These are best for 102 whips but they are heavy.

Seems like your on track to adapt your Larsen whip to suit your needs.

My Little Tarheel HP only came with a 32 in whip that's really flimsy that I thought was cheap.

You could use that 32 in whip holder for the longer Larsen whip but you may need to drill out the whip holder some if the Larsen is thicker.
I have that potbelly for 102's. My ferrules hold my various whips. Just want a light duty spring for ferrule to sit on.

My observations of using the 56" whip isn't anything other than perceived anecdotal blather.

It does seem to work rather well over the 32". I see a little more tuned bandwidth. I am pleased with just how much. I'm definitely interested in the MFJ telescopic whip for parked operation.

Here's a video I did with my Little Tarheel where I used the stock whip, one I robbed from my Sirio 5000 which is something like 6ft 4in, and finally a 10ft one....

Suffice to say it's definitely worth sacrificing 6m and using a much longer one.

The black spring is a Larsen. I prefer it as it's much more forgiving than the Hustler. Just has 1/4 threads and needs a stud reducer.
