Best low-end watt/VSWR meter you would suggest

One of the best intermediate meters I've had, is the MFJ-815D. It holds within a watt or so, compared to my LP-100a. The pep function is quite accurate. Price isn't bad, either. I recommend it highly. I've owned two. Both were accurate.

Knew a tech back when I was in it heavy the 1st time, he had 2 meters.... a "sell" meter and a "buy" meter.... An ever so small blue sharpie "swish" on the corner of the lens was the only visual difference.

You just need a Bird Throughline” and you’ll be all set.

In all seriousness, though, I worry little about how accurate a watt meter is. It’s all relative anyway...at least as far as I see it.

In a perfect world we’d have everything down to the single digit on any scale, but there’s little need for that, IMO.

The main/only reasons I want a fairly accurate meter is to 1: make sure I got/am getting what I paid for amp wise and 2: be able to keep a check on my equipment to make sure it's running efficiently. Other than that, numbers are just bragging rights.

I like it better than the Daiwa 901 series. The 901 meter is a damn good meter and I've owned three. The 815D is slightly smaller, in a more rugged case and better suited to take outside.

The better MFJ meters will say: "True Peak Reading" in the description.
