Thanks go out to LA6FJA for this Mod

This modification will be possible for radio produces LOT#008 and after.

Remove only the bottom cover. There is no need to remove the top cover. Just remove 3 screws at the rear of radio, plus two in front of bottom cover and one shiny one at the middle of the between two knobs.

The DSP Unit is the large (about 80mmx140mm) metal box in front of the radio while it faced upside down. On the front you will have the Sloop tuning..

Remove the three (3) screws holding the DSP unit, two to chassis and one down to the PCB, and lift out the DSP Unit “BOX” easily out.

Then you will see a chip with a green wire about middle of the area where the DSP unit was.

Cut the green wire completely or cut at one end and at some glue or tape at the end.

Replace DSP unit and bottom cover case.

Press and hold “STEP” + “LOCK” while you press POWER ON.

The display shows blinking 0000000

Enter the password code “198419” then press “ENT”

The mod will confirm with two beeps.

If your radio still don’t transmit. You have to change TX Frequency range for FT-920

Turn the power sw off.

Press and hold “STEP” + “LOCK” while you press POWER ON.

The display shows 000000 and blinking.

Enter 0761161 with your frequency panel 0 is 50 MHz,1 is 1.8 MHZetc. Then press “ENT”.

The radio will confirm with beep and returns to VFO mode.

Press “Menu” button.

Use the SUB VFO rotary dial until you see “undermenu” F33 destina, and press “ENT”

Choose outside band with SUB VFO Rotary dial.

Press “ENT” and then press “Menu”.

Now your radio should work on 5 MHz / 60m band.
