Dodging FCC??

I am a huge BBI fan. I enjoy watching him fix/creating multiple amps. But,, back in 2017 he got a warning from the fcc, and I'm wondering how he dodges the fcc? He does this on open camera. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy. He is one brilliant individual. I just wonder how one dodges the evil fcc. Its not illegal to fix amplifiers, but illegal to create them. Do you recon these are considered stage props? Maybe that's the reason he never takes work from anybody.

Luke is a dick and will never see a penny of my $$$ nor do i want any his ghost watt pushing junk around my station.
With that said the fcc letter meant nothing and still means nothing. There was a bunch of amp builders who got the same letter around the same time and nothing has come of it in almost 4 years.
The fcc has no time for alleged amp builders as theyre busy with 5g atm.
The reason bbi stopped building i believe was because of the toahiba supply drying up. Luke not being totally stupid saw the writing on the wall.
Thats my take on the situation.

I don't blame him for not building. There's no money in it. Fixing stuff pays better. Replace bad pills, check the tuning and send it back home.

His website has said he's not taking orders for years. I don't know if the letter had anything to do with that....

I don't remember if his YouTube videos show what frequency the amps are being tested on. Even if they do, is it illegal if you run it into a dummy load? If he's not revealing the frequency, not building amps and running into a dummy load he hasn't incriminated himself. Then factor in how much the FCC doesn't care. JMO

I remember being told years ago that if you wanted to get a cop out of his warm patrol car in the winter in Chicago, you would need to throw a firebomb at him.

Defying the FCC is cheap, so long as you aren't interfering with a licensed service.

Running a pirate FM station will get you hauled into court after you ignore the FCC enough times in a row.

Shutting down the local public-safety police/fire dispatching will get you a visit.

Unlicensed services like CB are no longer the FCC's problem. They got let off of that hook years ago. Their only concern now is with license holders. And if you key on one of them, they'll be along sooner or later.

Otherwise, don't hold your breath.

Did you have a bad experience? I kinda got that he was argent though.
More than one over the last 8 years. Hes not a nice guy to talk to. If you dont mind shipping a blown box to him and never having any contact with him personally i suppose the experience wouldnt be terrible. Hes smart sometimes dont get me wrong and hes good at taking others ideas and calling them his own. Hes great at pointing out others flaws but dont try to show him one of his own. I seem to remember bbi''s"little fans" where he mounted a tiny fan over i believe it was every pair of transistors, it may have been every one id have to find the pic. I think mr 543 just posted it recently but damned if i can find it now. Another time Luke complained about some dei pills xforce sold him having low gain so xforce posted a video showing Luke where he went wrong and he cried about it.
I try to keep my business closer to me, east of the rockies now since moving to florida. But even when i lived west coast i didnt use his service. As ive said before Imo most of his videos are best watched with the volume muted.

Important license holders that is. The amateur bands are as bad as CB these days. Deadkeys, music, sound effects and the whole 9 yards. I think some buy a cw key just to screw with people.

Jerry was posting on QRZ earlier this year and is still has a license. Captain Dave lost his license, but he was calling out the FCC and daring them to do something.
