11 meter is very quiet?

none are true truckstops like we had in the 80's and before
True!

It's all in the name. The word "truckstop" represents a bygone era and might as well be politically incorrect to say that.

Somewhere back some 30 years I noticed they became travel centers, stopping centers, travel plazas, etc.

One reasoning I heard for the change to the word travel plaza it doesn't single out any one and comes across as a stop for all motorists.

Very few actual "truckstops" exist today. Lisa's in Mortuary(Moriarity) New Mexico is still a truckstop. Only recently do they now sell auto gasoline. Before it was truck diesel only. It should have stayed that way to keep the tourists away.

After over 30 years driving trucks doing my part to keep the economy rolling and people fed I (we) truck drivers deserve to go on a rant here.

All you tourists and especially tour busses, stop somewhere else! We're sick of being pushed aside when tour busses come in with loads of people creating long lines and in some cases just to by a candy bar. I even heard P.A.announcements for all employees ”we have a tour bus coming in all employees needed". Never once heard we have a big rush of trucks coming in!

The hell with them I say! McDonalds gives bus drivers free meals for stopping let them go there!

As for the tourists, I'm sick of your bratty kids running around yelling and such and I'm even more sick of walking into the restrooms and seeing dirty diapers left on the changing station counters.

Tourist can stop anywhere they want to, we truck drivers are limited and as we travel back east it gets even more limiting.

I heard many times by un-informed people truckstops have good restaurants cause truckers need to eat good on the road, therefore that lead tourists into our truckstop restaurants, B.S.!!!

More truckstops have taken restaurants out and replaced them with Subways and other fast foods. How wonderful of an idea that was.

If this doesn't sum it up to how the modern day truck plaza thinks of us truck drivers, Notice how the tourists get the front lobby entrance under a marquee sign and we get the backdoor entrance but we have to first walk by smelly dumpsters and grease traps to enter.

I suppose that’s to remind us every day where we rank in the
grand scheme of life!

All that may ruffle some feathers but wow…

It really felt good to say all that!

You're only saying what many think all the time.

Sing it my friend!

Unreal “noise” (RX) on AM-19 and over to LSB-38.
Now in western Alabama in the Kenworth.

On AM-19 have never dialed in so much Squelch (#5) on the Lincoln (usually Off or close to that). Dialing back RF Gain slightly (make an unused channel “quiet”) just not enough, have it showing 1-2/bar.

Think it’s partly time-of-day (1630 CDT).

With NB/ANL cut-in, it becomes bearable and other “noise controls” can be backed down slightly. (DSP Speaker at 12:00).

Almost all Skip.

Last two days no skip at all. Tonight it's a complete train wreck. I've had skip from Wyoming to Florida and New Jersey to Mexico. Arkansas is getting hammered from all directions. Basically just tons of noise, but through it all seems I can always talk with 300 in NC and talking with 21 in Fl right now like he's next door. Almost like a direct line to the south east.
