Only the best one remains?
More, better features?

—At 1.5W DK kicked a KL-203p past 160W.

— Dead-quiet with DSP Speaker & Coax filters.

— None of that dink-dick digital “audio”. Walks & Talks. Eight miles mobile-to-mobile big truck back up IH40 in Knoxville after dark on 3.5W (Lost me at nine miles; I heard him for sixteen more miles).

Congrats on project well done...

Thx

Almost there.

I haven’t started hammering the squawk boxes. That report promises plenty of fun beforehand. When you have ears that are awesomely discriminating, it’s a helluva thing (“reading” the details of RX).

And, gonna need to see what 100W will do before swapping to a 200W leenyur. Then, start swattin’ flies on Sideband, rightcha?

The 959 gets the high ball.

In 25-years of big truck mobile the quietest radio rig yet. Have to filter mouse farts.

All of which means . . no wonder Grant and C148 got dropped. Hell, didn’t even have useful meters.

Pity, that freq counter is 2 digits too short to be usable.

When it matters, there are other radios at home better suited. AM is well over 90% of use. I’m a truck driver and that radio is turned on 10-12/hrs day, 25-28/days per month

Last night almost didn’t know it was “on” with zero squelch, max RF Gain and DSP backed down for hundreds of miles up IH81 (which never goes to sleep). Volume up enough that if you could hear hiss after turning up Volume, wait for a shotgun audio blast that would remove your ears

Aftermarket has add-on FC meters.

VU Meter to read probable distance is the reference. Different roads close by, Skip versus local, that big meter is handy feedback.

Truck drivers ain’t disciplined about:

1). What road?
2). What cardinal direction?
3). What mile marker or landmark?

Last week getting loaded one place could hear four (4) Interstates and five (5) US highways.

BIG METERS MATTER

That’s cool!! What does the radio swing to barefoot? I noticed on my 203 swing is at 150w engine off and then 190w or so engine on.

Don't really recall. 1.5 to 17 or so.

Will hook up PEP meter when not this tired.

Okay, we’ve stirred the pot. (It’s the rest of the system, not wholly the radio; see latest t680 Install thread posts).

Who’s next?

Where’s the cry-kiddies miss their ‘63 Chevy II 4-banger (Cobra 146).

Biden Jr and his fostered Grant.

I’m trying to work that Ford/Chevy thing, but the Rat Shack 122 escaped me.

959 for the win?

Take the thread where your reaction leads.
Best side mic radio?

And, have ya staged and run that anteek favorite against a 959 somewhat recently? Not a memory of points & carb against the straight nitromethane turbo & fuel injection now up against the lights (Ha!).

Slowmover….hahahaha it will take more than 9 miles before I ever lose you friend and you’ll be hearing me coming from I80/I79 intersection. Maul dropping will be child’s play…I’m suppose to be finishing up vacation time with the wife but instead I’m here ROFLMO.

So whatz you saying the DX 99V2 or the DX 98VHP isn’t e-nuff? So now I need to get a 959B and beg and plead for Mike’s sympathy to have him do the NPC-RC mod for me? Oh and phased Predator 10k antennas I suppose need to be upgraded eh?

Whoops wife caught me on here and wants to know why I couldn’t make it until Sunday before posting…I tried splaining to her old Slow was itch’n to talk smack…oops I just got smacked….

Time for you to crawl back into that sleeper old man

Every time you post Slowmover I got to play this song…

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Looking for adventure
In whatever comes our way
Yeah, darlin'
Gonna make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space
I like smoke and lightnin'
Heavy metal thunder
Racing in the wind
And the feeling that I'm under

Gettin’ gears has plenty of soundtracks.

In a 379 Pete 13-speed Cummins Signature 600 barely into the high side of the trans while grossing 94,000 east on IH-40 leaving Memphis with that long stretch of 55-mph and confounded YEARS of construction after thirty or more company and itty bitty peckerhead owner ops sped past, cut in and cut off to stay over sixty. Curves, turns, camber changes, barriers and a heavy as shit tall tanker behind us. From the West Memphis side all the way past the Germantown Loop, other truckers the danger the whole way.

They’re barely spreading along a three-mile right lane lineup now we’re past the 70-mph sign

And Casey Jones just gave us the high ball all the way to Jackson.

Into the wide-open passing lane (cue link).

That’s a truck Cats only keep up with. Driver skill separates power from brag.

Thus, to up over 100 with two gears to go before the end of that truck line.

959 cranked hard & high. Windows rolled right.
F y’all. See ya next century.

A guy could retire and, with the first cup of the days coffee, get his day started setting a cold start:

It’s the Ham Radio noise solutions (and 7’ Skipshooters). Radio could be something else, but I long ago got tired of hearing about out-of-production radios . . .

My 100 or 200 will trump Toshibas or Motorola’s cause they ain’t got ears to match voice.

Stirring the pot, Thumper.

(See, no surprise you brought up other Galaxies. The full-automatics with spare mags versus this belt-fed version)

I've said it many times, I've worked several galaxy radios and many galaxy radios have worked well for me. Imo, they're the king of the highway because they just work and do so very well!

Congrats on your 959B there Mr Slow.
