Anytone at-5555n II (version 2)

I didn't have mine open, but Timmy posted a pic in this thread that I looked at. I sort of recalled that the part designation in the PA were descending, or I would have assumed the same as you did.
Nice. BTW, in the Q6Pro, the pre driver and one of the finals are labeled "Q101" on the silkscreen. LOL

I had ordered an AT-5555nii and I forgot to order the program cable. I have other program cables, and I am wondering if they might work. I have a ss7900v turbo program cable, an Antyone d578uv program cable. Does anyone know if either of these cables will work on the at-5555nii? The reason I am asking now is if they do not, I will order one from amazon ASAP. Merry Christmas and may God bless all on this forum. Thank you. From this old man to all.

Yes, your cables will work fine!

Some are saying that you take off the the cover of the radio and there is a white wire looped that you cut and next to that wire is a jumper pin that you move that pin over Then turn on your radio. Remember to not have any power on until your done. I do not know for sure if this is right but that is what I found on YouTube. My radio should arrive probably Wednesday or Thursday. Please let us know on this forum if this is what you found . I hope this helps I ordered the program cable and it will not be here till the 23rd. Merry Christmas and May God Bless everyone.

That is exactly right. You unhook power, snip white wire, move jumper to the adjacent pins, and then repower radio.

One other thing I found is if this is not on the board they say while the radio is off press and hold the FUNCTION button with the EMG while turning on the radio. You will see on the display band 1 rotate the channel till you see band 2. They say hold the function button for several seconds till it it shows the band you choose. Then turn the radio off then back on You should now have it ready to use Choose band 2 for all frequencies to be used including 12–11–10 meter bands frequencies. This is all the info I have found on the net. Once again I hope this helps. Let us know if this works If my radio was delivered I would had tried this myself I guess I will know either by you and others or when my radio comes and then I try it myself.

I just got your post about this mod is on the board and you cut the white wire and move the jumper pin over. Thank you and disregard my last post since it is not the one that works. Thank you Merry Christmas and God Bless you all.

Hi all,

As you may know, the original LONG case Anytone AT-5555Nii radio is now discontinued and has been replaced by the new SHORT case AT-5555Nii radio.

Although the LONG case radio is discontinued, an updated AT-5555Nii LONG CASE firmware was worked on in 2024 that adds many new features, however it was not (and will not be) officially released as there is a potential that some early versions of the long case radio may be incompatible due to component changes that were made along the way.

However, with some clear points and caveats, I can share this BETA firmware.

Please note
: This is BETA firmware and may not be compatible with your radio, particularly as it has not been fully tested on all LONG case versions. By choosing to install this firmware, you accept all associated risks — including the possibility of rendering your radio inoperable. Installation is entirely at your own risk.

There is no support available from Qixiang / Anytone for this BETA version. Do not contact them for assistance. Do not attempt to install this firmware on other brands.

If you fully accept these conditions, the attached WWDX BETA firmware and CPS is available for you to try.

Change log:
AT5555NII - Long Case Firmware 241030 - WWDX BETA VERSION

1. VFO UNMUTE (speaker is unmuted during VFO adjustment)
2. Add “V-SPK” menu (allows VOX PTT when RX audio is present – useful for VOX based FT8, SSB mode VOX etc.)
3. Add “ASQ.OFF” to ASQ menu options
4. Add “DIM” menu for LCD Dimmer control
5. Add “FMDEV” menu for 2.5K/4K FM Deviation
6. CTCSS displays real tone frequency (Hz) instead of group number
7. Add “TONE” menu for SSB TX Audio bandwidth 3KHz/4KHz

I did not know that this was unreleased all this time. It took well over a year, from the time I was annoying QX about the update, until I received the first and only beta. Unlike Pez, I have been out of touch with all of this.

This FW version, transformed my QT-60, from an unusable (to me) piece of gear, to one of the best 10m TRX I have ever owned. The VFO un-mute was the one I said if I could have only one change, that would be it.

I had also posted a while back, two other mods I did to the radio. I backlit the front keys and increased RF output to 80-85 Watts. The latter was just for kicks to see how it would do. At the end, I REALLY like the radio.

One more thing I should add about the update. Although when asked, any changes to the RX code were denied by QX. However, I noticed a difference (in a good way), that reminded me of the Aries II/QT-40 RX, which seems to have some kind of special mojo going on (at least to my ears) that made it special. After updating the LONG chassis, I hear some of that mojo.

I know it is discontinued, but this really made what I considered to be a dud design, shine in a way that draws me back to it more than other options I have in my 10m arsenal. I took this thing portable and did very well with it, both SSB and FT8.

Much appreciated Pez, now how can we know if our version is compatible? Mine is an earlyish version, probably the second revision when the introduced the 5khz step in the menu.

Good stuff but I don't want to brick my n2.

You can't know for sure. But having a 5KHz step is a good bet it's a later version.

Also, it is 'likely' that you would be able to flash back to the previous version (the official firmware you have now) to restore the radio if things went wrong. But again, there are no promises this will work, there is no warranty, it is entirely your choice and your risk to take.

The risks are generally very low, but they do exist, hence the warnings.

Pez I have a question about the upgrade...... Do the existing service menu settings get wiped out in the upgrade?
I have some related to AM dead-key, SSB power out etc. that I changed. Will I have to go back into the service menu after the upgrade and re-do those changed settings or do the service menu settings get left alone during the upgrade?
