11 meter is very quiet?

I had the garage radio on today while I did work out there most of the day and the band was alive and well. I didn't have time to key down but hearing it active was music to my ears.
Sounds like me because I live alone & have to do everything myself so to many projects. But some times you find satisfaction when you work close to the radio and can listen. But not complaining because the trade off is I don't listen to a Nag ! LOL

A fantastic couple weeks for me for DX! I had 271DA/0 in the Republic of Nauru at the end of September, and a few minutes ago I made contact with Peter 144AT/DX on Easter Island. 27.510 USB with just 65 watts and my delta loop. Country number 92 for me.....Only 8 more to go to reach 100. Exciting moments in radio!

Never heard of the delta loop antenna so checked it out on the internet and sounds like a Ham antenna but can it be used on 11 meter also ?

Absolutely. Mine has been my primary DX antenna ever since I put it up. It massively outperforms my Antron-99 on DX contacts. Needs to be up nice and high to work properly. The horizontal top of mine is around 35 feet above ground.

What I found interesting is it was said they are more quite then other antennas but is it directional and need a rotor ? You have any links on making one for 11 meter ? Thanks I always like to learn new things.

It is somewhat directional off the sides of the horizontal part, but not as directional as I thought it would be. No rotor.....I have it strung between two fir trees. It is indeed a very quiet antenna, especially compared to my A99.

I found the basic design for it on a ham website and then scaled it for 11 meters, and spent almost a week of my free time experimenting with different wire length, angles, heights, etc. etc. I must have put it up and down a couple dozen times before I got it right! I found the lengths of the sides and the angles of the corners are critically important, much more so than the wire length. The first one I built had a 1:1 balun and was very narrow-banded. I replaced the balun with a quarter wave 75 ohm stub and that made it super-wideband. It will cover from below 26 MHz to above 28 MHz with SWR below 1.5:1
