    Microsoft 12 fubared

LOL at the shell script (I mean it's pretty geeky) I prefer ZFS on *BSD, not Linux, it certainly is good stuff.

Some MB's indeed have an option for the TPM 2.0, but getting that module is another issue. Usually they are not for sale and even when they are, they tend to be expensive. As you say, security wise it brings Windows 11 closer to Windows 10, but Windows 11 still has additional security...

    Microsoft 12 fubared

You can run Windows 11 on most old hardware just fine. The problem is getting it installed. The normal installer requires that your computer is fitted with a TPM. A modern one at that. Older hardware doesn't have such a module. There used to be some registry hacks to get passed that...

    Heck of a deal...

Can't get that deal anymore as I'm a loyal customer :D But I got similar probes from them a year or so ago at almost the same price. Yes, I completely agree that these sharp probes are very useful. Besides pricking yourself with them I mean. <grin> I made one little tweak to them, it's really...

Certainly understand better now that I see this on what you were after. This looks very useful. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.

    SFTP/SSH question

It's easy to test if password auth is off. Just ssh from any machine to your machine that is hosting the openssh server without any additional parameters. eg. ssh <ip.of.your.machine> If it immediately breaks the connection with a message along the lines of "permission denied (public key)" then...

testing 10m antennas with repeatable results

WebSDR? Down here in The Netherlands there's at least 4 web SDR's I can hit from my location. That doesn't mean it is the same for you in the UK, but have a look at the Kiwi (link) and OpenWebRX (link) maps to see if there's one closeby. There's more than those two, but it's a good start.

I'm sure everyone remembers me noise issue... (update)

Thanks, but I'm in division19 (The Netherlands). We don't have an FCC and while we have something similar (RDI), they don't do much with these type of complaints for CB. Even if they would, it's a bit of a goose chase, you find one. Fix that and the next one pops up. Which is exactly what...

I'm sure everyone remembers me noise issue... (update)

I have more than 4 closeby neighbors with those things.. it's not pleasant. Already had one neighbor replace it with a powerline one that's not as noisy. Another neighbor I tried to replace it with a WiFi version and extender, but it didn't work for them. Tried 2 different WiFi extenders, so in...

    Bearcat 980SSB "PLL Porn"

In the case that you're in need for more switches. If you can indeed repurpose that 9/19 switch then perhaps you can do something like short press is function X and long press is function Y?

A "double press" on the rotary encoder like a double click with a mouse perhaps? Agreed on a channel 9/19 switch to be completely useless and a good candidate for being repurposed.

Never a fan of adding new holes in a chassis for accomodating new switches. It's difficult to see, but can't you swap out a potmeter with a potmeter that has a switch? Or perhaps the current encoder does not have a push button function and you can replace it with one that has?
