    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

yup. that's why i don't know what it can do yet. be over drawing p/s. megawatt 33amp on the way will cure that, i guess. these magnums are happy. this poor thing has probably seen over 2hrs/wk of key time on ssb for the last 3 months and loves it.

    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

i like to try to keep stuff under 50%.. i need to get a quiet switching pwr supply that can take the job instead of that 20A pyramid getting worked over. what are you seeing on the 2000 with what drive numbers? any 2 pill likely generates the same S unit on the opposite end of the signal, so i...

    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

had to look inside.. mrf455, straight 4. i was told it was a 2 pill and it has a magnum 4000 sticker looks to have been peeled off and says magnum 2000. i regularly have 45 minute conversations with the qt80 or kpo dx5000 as a driver (power almost all the way down, 60% mic gain). the mini fans...

    Magnum 2000 resistor repair.

a souped up cobra 29 can burn up an amp and a dual final radio swinging 3w ssb can talk on a magnum 4000 all day. i wonder if it made a sound when that one resistor blew up. guessing that operator got some smoke

    OVER-VOLTAGE PROTECTION

with coax removed and without regard to any other appliances, would killing the breaker to the radio room prevent damage to everything on the bench?

    Any Airband Enthusiasts?

uniden bct7, factory single wire with suction cups on the inside of window. picks up pretty good. base and mobile. sds200 is used for trunking in my county, it rarely goes anywhere else

this was pulled from a junk pile, tech got it workin. has at least 5 hours of talk time since. long winded, driving with 2-3w ssb and getting just shy of 100. glued 4 minifans together for when i start a qso. no noise or rf, temp stays under 100°. you must have found it on ebay when i wasn't...

Home Radioddity QT80 HF Radio Review

got a few hours on it now, having problem with driver on my 12 year old laptop, so still running without programming. it makes me miss the k-po dx5000 when moving around. the stock mic sounds good enough to keep, so changing frequency isn't bad. i appreciate all the info folks have posted on...

A friend's station work in progress.

Mr Radio man doesn't wait for conditions. if he can't find some, i expect he makes his own.

    curious coax cable (answered)

that's some fine research and digging you did. seems to be a great price for some dang heavy coax

    curious coax cable (answered)

many thanks and welcome to the forum. a friend got 2 fifty foot chunks, he used it without issue on his base edit: the original swr problem was tracked down and determined not to be the coax. i should have posted that

check your local Craigslist or that facebook? sometimes on that ebay, i sort by distance and stuff right down the road shows up that i didn't see before. due to lack of tech around here, got a new carl built c80. bout close as i could find to what we are both looking for. bout 275 for a new...

    11 meter is very quiet?

was camping on 555 and heard Maine @ 5pm(est). went to 36lsb and made a whole bunch of contacts to the northeast in a half hour before they disappeared. got 1st contact to Suriname and Hawaii earlier today. all conditions, well under triple digits. take time, patience, and the right conditions...
