    TRC-457 Channel Mod

I picked up a sweet TRC-457 at the swap meet a few weeks back and it has the extra channel mod done. I think it's a Uniden board in there. A four position rotory switch that adds 200 Khz each index, and a single-pole single throw toggle switch that drops the operating frequency one meg. I...

    2510 no TX.......

I am having this same problem. TX indicates but no RF out. Changed the mic and it started working, then it quit. Now it's intermitant. Pushing the TX button produces no RF either. Then it starts working again. This one is making me nuts.

    HR-2510 & HC-5

Yeah... well thanks, but I'm running it in the mobile, so I'd like to avoid that. The stock mic cable doesn't like to stretch when it gets cold. I have a nice rubber jacket Workman cable that is OK with the deep freeze. I just need to tweak the AM gain a bit. I don't have a schematic, is...

    HR-2510 & HC-5

I put a Heil HC-5 element in the mic on my 2510. Sounds great on SSB, but it's a little thin on AM now. Any suggestions? Tnx.

    Tuning jumpers and coax length

Doc, No offence taken. Thanks for the reply. I understand I can go the coax or coil matching method, it seems the coax method is easiest, but which method will produce the best efficiency or have the least losses? Also, which matching method will produce the greatest bandwidth for the antenna?

    Tuning jumpers and coax length

Hi Pinejuice, It's a 102" whip on a 20 foot mast in my backyard. I can't add radials and I don't want to do a "cheap 'n dirty" coax fix. W5LZ has made reference to a lack of understanding of what's going on. I don't want to make do with my small amount of knowledge so I am asking W5LZ to...

    Tuning jumpers and coax length

W5LZ, I installed my antenna and hooked it up with a random length of feedline. The SWR is right off the scale. What is the real problem here and how do I fix it. I would like to understand what's going on and fix it right. I am willing to think about it and I admit I don't have the right...

    tune a dual band antenna

Hi Joe, Consider a Tram dual band NMO. Good performer at a reasonable price. Honest Bob will fix you up. http://www.mapleleafcom.com/ I don't know if he will be at the York Hamfest next Saturday or not... worth a look, they are a well made antenna.
